| Tranny was dropped to fix a leak, never made any abnormal sounds. Since then it has been dropped twice to try and locate a whirring noise and also a high pitched ringing/whining sound. On the 2nd drop we noticed the very edge, almost corner, of the ring gear where the starter gears would slide in have been slightly worn down. So we made sure to put the starter back on correctly, etc. The whirring noise is gone but the ringing noise remains. It changes tune with engine speed. I'm thinking the starter is starting to go and its not pulling the gear all the way back and the flywheel is barely touching on it causing that ringing noise. What do y'all think?
